5-Minute Forums

The Five Minute Forum is an opportunity for business owners to make a 5 minute presentation at our monthly luncheon meeting for any of the following reasons:

Raising capital
Identifying customers
Establishing distribution
Recruiting management

The forum may also be used by individuals seeking positions or new venture funds seeking investments. Presenters are selected and coached to insure that they make the best use of the presentation opportunity.

The following format is useful as a way of summarizing your business opportunity for presentation at one of our meetings. A one-page handout of this information will be appreciated.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

One or two sentence explanation of technology or service, markets served, and what results you would like to achieve as a result of your participation in the Five Minute Forum.

The ABC Company is a manufacturer of widgets for the healthcare industry and is seeking a business partner to assist in further development of the product. The ABC Widget is an implantable device used in the treatment of paralysis.
Formation of the business, including year founded, number of employees, any facilities other than the primary address listed above, where the technology/product originated.
Funding received to date through management financing, research grants, business partnerships, etc.

PRODUCT:

Unique features and benefits of the technology/product.

The ABC Widget is the only widget currently produced that can be used in finger joints, thereby increasing the flexibility and dexterity of the patient's hands.
Is it patented, proprietary or protected in some fashion?
At what stage of development is it? Do you have government approvals for your technology/product (if appropriate)? Has it undergone all necessary testing?

The ABC Widget is in its final development and testing stage. We anticipate receiving FDA approval in 2 months and taking the product into the market in approximately 4-6 months.
